In Term 1 we are learning about the different ways we can communicate with members of our community. We are learning about assistive technologies such as Braille and AUSLAN as well as the various other languages used within our community.

Formal letter sample.
The Black Book of Colours, written by Menena Cotton and illustrated by Rosana Faria is a picture book written in Braille. It highlights how our other senses can be used to communicate effectively with others.
We will be reading The Jolly Postman or Other People's Letter's written and illustrated by Janet and Allan Ahberg. This book is a create resource for helping young children to understand the difference between formal and informal language.

We have been looking at recount texts in 2P. We use recounts to tell our audience about an event which has happened. Recounts can be spoken such as when we tell news in class or they can be written.
